India ranks 94th in global malnutrition index A report on this was published recently. India was ranked 102nd out of 117 countries in 2019. This time, India is ranked 94th out of 107 countries. India lags behind Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia in the global malnutrition index.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has targeted the central government. He said the government was only busy filling the pockets of some of its special friends.
Rahul Gandhi tweeted that “the poor in India are hungry because the government is only busy filling the pockets of some of its special friends”.
The Global Malnutrition Index report, compiled jointly by the Irish organization Concern Worldwide and the German organization Welt Hunger Hilfi, says the situation in India is critical. These include low nutrition, low birth weight, low birth weight, stunted growth, malnutrition, infant mortality rate, and under five mortality rate.
According to the Global Malnutrition Index, more than 60 million people worldwide are malnourished.
Countries are rated from 0 to 100 depending on the state of hunger in the country. They are sorted accordingly. 0 marks are considered the best in this, which means in a way that the state of hunger in that country is not something to worry about. India have been given a score of 27.2 out of 50 and the situation is said to be critical.
The report also states that the under-five mortality rate in India declined between 2000 and 2018. India lags behind Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia in the global malnutrition index. Only 13 countries are worse off than India.
