A 55-year-old lady was charred to loss of life and her 12-day-old grandson, husband, son and daughter-in-law had been struggling for his or her lives after their home was allegedly set on hearth in Odisha’s coastal district of Kendrapara early on Friday.
Police stated Manas Barik, his spouse Gitanjali, son Lipu, daughter-in-law Rinki and grandson had been sleeping of their dwelling in Giringa village of Dumuka gram panchayat underneath Marshaghai police station space when somebody reportedly set the home on hearth after bolting it from outdoors.
Police and hearth engine later reached the spot, broke open the door and rescued the members of the family earlier than dashing them to hospital. Gitanjali died whereas being taken to SCB Medical School and Hospital in Cuttack metropolis.
“The household was in deep sleep and didn’t realise for about half an hour until the noxious fumes from the fireplace crammed the room. They tried to exit of the home however couldn’t exit because the door was locked from outdoors. It appears to be a case of tried homicide,” Kalindi Behera, Marshaghai police station inspector, stated.
