The Enforcement Directorate has registered a cash laundering case towards fugitive arms vendor Sanjay Bhandari in a Rs 6,744-crore deal by Oil and Pure Fuel Company (ONGC), officers mentioned on Monday.
The ED case is predicated on a CBI First Data Report (FIR) registered earlier this month naming Bhandari, Samsung Engineering Co Ltd, UK-based firm FosterWheeler Vitality Ltd and unknown officers of the ONGC.
It was alleged by CBI that Rs 22 crore ($5 million approx) bribe was paid to Sanjay Bhandari’s firm Santech Worldwide FZC out of which 1.9 million kilos (round Rs 18 cr) was used to buy a property – 12 Ellerton Home, Brynston Sq. (London).
The CBI FIR claimed that the deal for this property was stipulated to be accomplished on or earlier than finish of August 2009, simply after Rs 22 crore ($5 million approx.) have been transferred on June 13, 2009 within the Dubai account of Bhandari’s firm Santech Worldwide FZC by Samsung Engineering Co Ltd (SECL).
The ED has repeatedly claimed within the courts that this property belongs to Robert Vadra, a cost denied by him.
Vadra is just not named as an accused within the newest CBI or ED instances.
The ED has powers to connect properties of accused individuals underneath Prevention of Cash Laundering Act (PMLA).
