The Covid-19 pandemic has made it tough for the Maharashtra State Highway Improvement Company (MSRDC) to discover a toll operator for the Rajiv Gandhi Sea Hyperlink, also referred to as the Bandra-Worli Sea Hyperlink (BWSL).
After extending the bids to discover a new operator, MSRDC is now in search of operators to handle the system for a three-month interval, thereby opening it for the “smaller gamers” too, MSRDC mentioned.
Vijay Waghmare, joint managing director, MSRDC mentioned, “It has turn into tough for bidders to estimate visitors owing to the pandemic, primarily based on which they quote their bids. The three-month interval will make it simpler for smaller corporations to additionally take part within the bids.” MSRDC is in search of a contractor for the three-month interval even on the Katai and Gove toll plaza on the Bhiwandi-Kalyan-Shilphata Freeway.
MSRDC had invited bids for toll-management of BWSL after MSRDC’s contract with the earlier concessionaire, MEP Infrastructure Builders, expired in January 2020. MSRDC is anticipated to gather toll for the sea-link that was opened in 2009 until 2052 with revision in charges each three years. It was final revised in 2018.
